Edgar Berlanga expressed his frustration with his fight against Jason Quigley on Saturday night.
The two super middleweights fought in New York as they both looked to move up the rankings in pursuit of a championship fight, potentially against undisputed fighter Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez.
It was another win for Berlanga, his 21st, but he remained on 16 knockouts after securing his victory via unanimous decision.
Speaking to DAZN, Berlanga expressed disappointment with the outcome of the fight, and suggested Quigley was a difficult opponent as he did not turn up with the same level of aggression.
"I give my fight a C,” he said after the fight.
“Everyone who fights with me trains to survive. They know I have a hammer, but hats off to the team and to Quigley. I'm thankful for the win. I want to fight the best.”
Berlanga then named two fighters who would represent a significant step-up in quality.
He continued: “I want [Jaime] Munguia, I want GGG [Gennadiy Golovkin]. I want to get to the level where my opponents want to knock me out as much as I want to knock them out, not opponents who are just looking to survive.”
