Emmanuel Navarrete issues warning to Canelo Alvarez ahead of Gennadiy Golovkin trilogy fightDAZN

Despite admiring Gennadiy Golovkin's style inside the ring, the WBO world featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete couldn't help but show his support for his fellow countryman ahead of this Saturday's trilogy fight.

Saul "Canelo" Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight title for the first time when he faces Golovkin at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, and Navarrete believes the Mexican's recent activity will be a huge advantage going into this contest.

"I think the relevant factor here is time and unfortunately GGG has it against him. Canelo is going to get stronger and stronger and it's not his fault that GGG is coming down. It's a natural thing. Canelo has tried other higher divisions and that will be an advantage for him," Navarrete said in an exclusive interview with DAZN

However, Navarrete acknowledged that Golovkin is someone who can still pose a threat and change the course of any fight with a single punch.

"Canelo cannot afford to be too confident because GGG can complicate him, but I think he will try to knock out Gennady Golovkin.

"If Gennady Golovkin gets the decision, I think he would be disrespecting Canelo, despite his age, despite the fact that the years have passed."
