Ex British world champion thinks his former team are egotistical

Ex British world champion thinks his former team are egotisticalDAZN
One fighter has plenty to say.

Carl Frampton has issued a stern response to Barry McGuigan after the latter took plenty of credit for the success enjoyed by Frampton as a professional.

Under the guidance of the McGuigan family, Frampton became a two-weight world champion before the relationship eventually soured.

A bitter dispute in court saw a settlement finally reached, but it doesn't appear that a reconciliation is any closer.

McGuigan recently claimed that the Belfast fighter wouldn't have reached the heights he did without his input, and that has led Frampton to reply to that opinion.

“It’s very disrespectful to the other people that have trained me in my career,” said Frampton when speaking to Boxing Social

“You’ve got to remember Barry approached me to turn pro, I was a number one fighter in the four nations at featherweight, so it wasn’t as if they got some moron and turned him into a world champion.

“Shane is a great trainer, and Barry was good as a promoter and manager to get me the attention but to say I couldn’t have done it without them is hugely egotistical.”
