Oleksandr Usyk will repeat his victory over Anthony Joshua when the heavyweights clash for a second time next month. That’s the verdict of Fabio Wardley, who continues his own climb up the rankings when he fights on the undercard of Derek Chisora’s rematch with Kubrat Pulev this Saturday night, exclusively live on DAZN.
Wardley, an ardent observer of the division he fights in, is relishing his return to the ring as he looks towards a future British title showdown with Nathan Gorman. Despite his own lofty ambitions, Wardley is eager to see how the August 20 meeting between Usyk and Joshua plays out, and he holds a confident stance when declaring a victor in the eagerly anticipated bout.
“Usyk just has to be himself again and that should be enough,” said Wardley during an exclusive interview with DAZN.
“He’s that good of a fighter that he rarely makes a mistake and what I seen in the first fight tells me that he’ll be able to be that good again. I’m not sure what Joshua can do that Usyk can’t deal with.
“Don’t get me wrong, I want ‘AJ’ to win because he’s the British fighter and he’s someone who’s done what I’d love to do. He’s brought Robert Garcia into the team but is that going to be enough with the fight so close? Have they had enough time? I think he’s going to need a lot more than a new trainer to beat Usyk.”
