Nicholas Walters was once considered one of the most feared men in boxing when he held a world title at featherweight.
In 2014, Walters produced a stunning performance as he destroyed Nonito Donaire in a one-sided fight, but two years later, he would be on the receiving end of a drubbing as he endured his only loss to date.
Facing Vasiliy Lomachenko, Walters was aiming to capture glory at super-featherweight, but he was no match for the Ukrainian star.
Walters retired on his stool and was inactive for over six years before returning with two low-profile bouts in Columbia last year.
Facing Joseph Adorno in Florida on March 27, Walters has spoken about his absence.
“Honestly I took a break from boxing because I’ve never been away from the sport since I started boxing at eight years old,” said Walters when speaking to BoxingScene.
“I took some time off and upon my return, I had a couple of injuries. I did plan to come back, but I didn’t plan for it to take so long. It has taken me some time to get back to the big stage, but it’s okay.”
