Former Ryan Gacia trainer Joe Goossen is expecting the young boxing star to show huge signs of improvement when he takes on Oscar Duarte on December 2.
Goossen was in Garcia's corner for his last fight in April when he was stopped by Gervonta Davis in round seven in what was their third contest as trainer and fighter.
While it was a dissapointing loss, Goossen acknowledges that stepping in the ring with one of boxing's most feared names was a tough task.
“He'll come back with a vengeance,” Goosen told Boxing News.
"Ryan, with only 24 fights, took on a very wily, strong, unbeaten knockout artist – a left-hander, who’s proven himself over and over again to probably be one of the top three fighters out there today. That was a tall order."
Following the loss to Davis, Garcia parted ways with Goossen and is now training with Derrick James. A split after a huge loss can often fracture a relationship between a fighter and his former trainer, but that is not the case for Goossen.
Instead, the seasoned cornerman gave a positive outlook for what lies ahead for Garcia and believes he can still beat some of the best names boxing has to offer.
“But Ryan beats just about everybody else – especially the right-handers. His artillery really hits the mark against right handers," Goossen continued.
"It’s a little bit tougher against southpaws. That said, Ryan will come back, and he’ll be better than before. I guarantee it."
