Former unified champion urges Anthony Joshua to 'wait' for Tyson Fury fight

Amir Khan thinks Anthony Joshua should bide his time until Tyson Fury is available.

Joshua's next move after losing to IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in September is a big point of interest for fight fans, as Joshua remains one of boxing's biggest names despite the loss.

An Olympic gold medalist and two-time world heavyweight champion, Joshua's rise ran in parallel to that of Fury, who held the WBC heavyweight title for four years before losing to Oleksandr Uysk earlier this year.

Usyk and Fury are set for a massive rematch next month, live on DAZN PPV, after which Khan hopes to see an all-British clash between Fury and Joshua.

In fact, former unified light welterweight world champion Khan believes "AJ" should spurn any other opportunities in order to pursue a long-awaited fight against Fury.

"He should wait for the big fight against Tyson Fury," Khan told New Zealand Daily. "They’re both such big names and I think he should call it a day after that.

"AJ has done phenomenal in boxing and has made a lot of money, won a lot of titles, fought around the world, and is a big name but for him, why not finish on a big high by taking the Fury fight and then call it a day?

"He can then enjoy the rest of his life knowing people have respect for him as a great champion. At the same time, he has not taken that much punishment."
