Anthony Joshua heads into his December 23 clash with Otto Wallin with Ben Davison set to be in his corner.
Although Derrick James is still Joshua’s official trainer, Davison will on duty in Saudi Arabia meaning that the Watford man will have a fourth coach in five fights as he looks to register his third victory of 2023.
A win for Joshua could be the platform for him to push on and have a huge 2024 with a fight against Deontay Wilder seemingly possible.
Wilder faces Joseph Parker on the same card as Joshua vs. Wallin, but Johnny Nelson, a former world champion at cruiserweight, is concerned about Joshua’s motivation.
“I could be wrong but if AJ has chosen Ben Davison to be his coach, to stay at home, I think he’s cutting corners,” said Nelson when speaking to Boxing King Media.
“If he’s cutting corners at this stage, it tells me his ambition to be the best has gone, to pay for the best, to work for the best, it tells me he’s just biding time just to get through this fight.”
