Caleb Plant is looking for a rematch with Canelo Alvarez, or to settle scores with Jermall Charlo.
The super middleweight fought David Benavidez Jr. last year but lost via unanimous decision.
He also fought Canelo back in 2021 when the Mexican became the undisputed champion at 168lbs.
Last year was also notable for Plant after he slapped Jermall Charlo in the build-up to the Canelo vs. Jermell Charlo clash, and there have been suggestions he could make a fight with his rival.
However, Jermall Charlo has now reportedly been stripped of all of his belts with no indication on when he will come back to the ring after years of relative inactivity.
“I’m focused on getting that Charlo fight,” Plant said, reported BoxingScene.com. “It doesn’t look like that’s going to happen next.”
“You have to talk to [Charlo] about that. You guys may see me in a tune-up staying busy. Hopefully, we can make that happen soon, in the summertime.
“You have to talk to him about that. ... That was the fight that I was looking to hopefully get next, but it’s not always up to me. There’s a lot that goes into making a big fight like that. It takes two to dance and two to tango. … If he wants it, we can make it happen.”
However, he is also open to a rematch with Canelo, who is now believed to be close to agreeing to a Cinco de Mayo clash with Jaime Munguia.
“I’m looking to get a rematch with Canelo myself,” Plant said. “If that means having to get another big fight and work my way back, I’ve done it before. If that means getting a win over Charlo, that’s what I want. Another fight that I like is the [Edgar] Berlanga fight. I want all of the big guys. I’m willing to get in there and scrap with anybody.”
