Four-division world champion gives update on plans for next fightEd Mullholland/Matchroom
There is a fresh target for the future hall-of-famer.

Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez has given an update on his next fight.

Gonzalez last fought in 2022, a defeat against Juan Francisco Estrada, and he has been plotting his next move ever since.

Speaking to BoxingScene.com, he confirmed that he would be moving up to 118lbs to fight at bantamweight.

Gonzalez has won world titles in four divisions, but never in that division.

“There is nothing concrete, but I will have a fight at 118 lbs, but no opponent yet,” he said.

Gonzalez, at his peak, was a pound-for-pound contender and the 36-year-old boasts a huge amount of in-ring experience, with a track record of 51-4 (41 KOs).

He has two defeats in his last four fights, both narrow decision losses to Estrada, and he added that he is biding his time before he picks an opponent.

Gonzalez said: “I am still waiting.”
