'Four or five years!' - Canelo Alvarez drops hint over future plans before Edgar Berlanga fightEsther Lin / Premier Boxing Champions
The Mexican has got one eye on what comes next before this weekend's massive bout.

Canelo Alvarez intends to fight for another "four or five years", but admits that plans could change as he nears two decades as a professional fighter.

The Mexican will contest the 66th bout of his career when he faces Edgar Berlanga this weekend at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Having made his professional debut in 2005 against Abraham Gonzalez, the 34-year-old has reached the top of the sport over the past 19 years.

But as he looks towards the future, he admits that he has one eye on the end of his career, even as he continues to feel he is in excellent shape.

"I love boxing," he told DAZN. "I love what I do. I still enjoy my training camps. I love my routine, and the people I fight, I enjoy. I motivate myself.

"[I feel] like 24. Obviously I need to take more [care of] my body, because I’ve been in this sport 19 years now.

"But I feel great, I feel strong, I feel fast and everything is in [its right] place. I’d say four or five years more, but we’ll see."
