Franchon Crews-Dezurn was crowned the new World Boxing Council super middleweight champion after defeating her old amateur rival, Shadasia Green.
In a battle in which she was an underdog, Crews-Dezurn not only delivered an entrance worthy of Deontay Wilder, she also imposed her experience early on Green, who showed hunger but could never make the necessary adjustments to tip the scales in her favor.
"We did it the first time, and we did it again this time. It's dedicated to women like me, don't give up, otherwise you'll be nobody," she said.
"Green is a great fighter who will carry on the legacy of women's boxing," said Crews-Dezurn, who said that the plan is to challenge Britain's Savannah Marshall, to whom she lost last July.
Crews-Dezurn managed the distances and dipped the powder to a Shadasia Green, who could not keep the necessary distance to deliver her punches and ended up falling on the cards 98-92, 97-93 and 97-93.
Now as the new monarch, she wants to get rid of the thorn of her last duel and return to face the Briton, who beat her by majority decision in Manchester.
"That's the idea, I go against whoever is available. I'm not going to give up. I'm going to keep going," said Crews-Dezurn, who promised to pay back all those who bet on her when she lost to Marshall.
