Former UFC heavyweight champion has made the first move in the mind games ahead of his meeting with two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.
The two superstars will meet in what will be a huge fight on March 8 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia live on DAZN PPV in what will be Ngannou's second fight as a professional boxer.
After giving a strong account of himself in his debut against Tyson Fury in October, Ngannou is feeling confident that he can send shockwaves through the boxing world, but he is now facing an opponent in Joshua who seems back to his best with three successive wins in 2023.
However, this has not deterred Ngannou from attempting to unnerve Joshua with the Cameroonian claiming that the former Olympian has "no chin" at the announcement press conference for the upcoming fight earlier this month.
Speaking exclusively to DAZN a few days later, Ngannou's coach and president of Team Combat League, Dewey Cooper, clarified the comments made by his fighter.
"The bottom line is when you bring pressure and an imposing style to break your opponent down, like Anthony Joshua going on the front foot against Otto Wallin, there is a level of trepidation, a level of danger when you are fighting a guy who has knockout power. Especially against a guy who has one punch knockout power like Francis Ngannou does," Cooper said.
"Me as a coach, I don’t discount Joshua’s chin. He’s an Olympic Gold medallist, a two-time heavyweight boxing world champion, I know his pedigree, I know his talent.
"But when you are Francis Ngannou, when you are registered as the hardest puncher in the world you feel that way about everyone you come up against.
"That’s a great way to feel going into a fight."
