Gabriel Rosado hopes to move up to light heavyweight and already has an opponent in mind for his debut at 175bs.
Rosado most recently fought at super middleweight but his last three fights, against Jaime Munguia, Shane Moseley Jr. and Ali Akhmedov have all ended in defeat and he now hopes to put right his fortunes with a win at a higher weight.
Speaking to DAZN, he discussed his plans, saying: “I’m excited to get back in, I’m moving up, 175. It’s one of those nights where Gabriel Rosado shows up. All the odds are stacked against me, for whatever reason.
“When I’m the underdog is when I come to rumble and it’s going to be that kind of fight.”
He hopes to face off with Gabriel ‘Zurdo’ Ramirez, who most recently lost to Dmitry Bivol when challenging for the WBA light heavyweight world title.
He continued: “I know Zurdo very well, we sparred each other for the last four years, he was my main sparring partner when I beat [Bektemir Melikuziev]. Greater respect, great champion, strong, big guy,. It’s just one of those fights where I see the drama and the action and where I have to come at my best. I have to be 100% ready and I think now is the time to fight him.
“The fight with Munguiuia was such a big fight, rivalry, Mexico against Puerto Rico, for whatever reason with Mosely I didn’t have the same motivation. It wasn’t the same feel.”
