George Kambosos told Devin Haney that he should sell his jewellery in order to finance a clash for the undisputed lightweight title.
Kambosos Jr. holds the IBF, WBA and WBO lightweight belts and the WBC franchise belt, while Haney is the WBC’s lightweight champion.
The 28-year-old Australian defeated Teofimo Lopez for his four straps, while Haney last defeated JoJo Diaz to retain his championship.
The pair seem keen on meeting in 2022 despite interest from others such as Gervonta Davis, Ryan Garcia and Vasyl Lomachenko, but Kambosos tweeted to Haney that money may be at the heart of any delay.
"You and your team know exactly how make it happen, maybe sell some of your jewellery to help with that. You don’t have to go to Jupiter brother just 8000+ miles across the pacific, down under!" he said.
Haney replied: "Yeah yeah yeah. we all know you want a bidding war! But you know who’s really putting up the money. You said I would be next so keep that same energy.”
