George Kambosos says he saw 'holes' in Devin Haney's performance during American scouting mission

George Kambosos says he saw 'holes' in Devin Haney's performance during American scouting missionDAZN
George Kambosos and Devin Haney could fight in 2022 after big wins for both over the last fortnight.

George Kambosos was an interested spectator as Devin Haney produced a textbook performance to get past the game JoJo Diaz. Kambosos, who shocked the world last month by defeating Teofimo Lopez, had stayed on in America to watch Haney defend his world title ahead of a potential meeting with the Las Vegas based fighter in 2022.

A meeting between the pair would see every belt at lightweight be on the line but both fighters are not short of options. Vasiliy Lomachenko, Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia are all near the top at 135lbs and there’s also the possibility of Kambosos having a homecoming defence. If a Haney fight can be made for the Australian, he’s already seen enough to know he can gain victory.

“He boxed nice, he did what he had to do, similar to his other fights. But I’ve got to give credit to JoJo Diaz, he brought it, but Devin Haney did his thing,” said Kambosos to BoxingScene. “I saw the holes there already. That’s me as a fighter, I see things straight away. It was a good fight, I’ll give him his props and we’ll see what happens now."
