Gervonta Davis is fully aware of just how huge his epic showdown with Ryan Garcia on April 22nd in Las Vegas is.
The lightweight rivals will finally go at it in one of boxing’s biggest fights, and Davis couldn’t hide his excitement when speaking with the world’s press ahead of next month’s mouth-watering encounter.
The rivals came face to face for the first time at a congested press conference to publicise their upcoming clash and there was an immediate big fight feel.
The winner of this contest is likely to be in pole position to be one of boxing’s marquee names and future lucrative fights are almost certain to come next. Davis recognises the significance.
“This could possibly be the biggest fight in a couple, like in over five years,” said Davis when speaking to the media.
“I mean, if you look at boxing, the position it is [in] right now, it’s been hard to get prime fighters together, right? It’s usually too late or, you know, somebody’s way past their prime.
“So, this is a moment that I think boxing has been longing for a while. And it really is gonna test where boxing’s at, because you really can’t make a bigger fight than this.”
The superfight between Davis and Garcia will air live on PPV next month, including on DAZN PPV.
