Gervonta 'Tank' Davis confirms Mayweather Promotions exit: 'It's time'Showtime Boxing
The multi-division champion is moving on.

Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis has confirmed he is leaving Mayweather Promotions after his fight with Rolly Romero this weekend.

Davis joined Floyd Mayweather’s outfit back in 2015 and they have guided him to a 26-0 record but at 27 he is now ready to move on.

'Tank' has won belts at super featherweight, super lightweight and lightweight, and could be in line for a high-profile fight against the winner of the undisputed clash between George Kambosos Jr. and Devin Haney later this year.

Davis fights Romero at lightweight on Saturday after a proposed bout last year fell through following sexual assault allegations against Romero which were investigated, with no charges brought.

'Tank' instead fought Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz and while he won, Davis was pushed hard, and he will be looking for an impressive showing on May 28 if he wants to leverage his reputation into a new deal elsewhere.

Asked if he would be leaving Mayweather Promotions, Davis confirmed to the Last Stand Podcast that he would be moving on.

“Yes, sir,” he said.

“It’s about just becoming that man, handling your own responsibility, your own priorities.

“So I feel as though it’s my career, so I feel as though I need to be the one to control my career. And it’s time.”
