Gilberto Ramirez could become "one of the all-time greats" if he faces Oleksandr Usyk, believes Oscar De La Hoya before the former's bout with Chris Billam-Smith live on DAZN.
The Mexican is due to headline Riyadh Season Latino Night at The Venue in Saudi Arabia this month as he looks to become a unified cruiserweight champion against the Briton.
It would see Ramirez follow in the footsteps of Usyk, who conquered the division before stepping up to heavyweight to become unidsputed with a win over Tyson Fury in May.
In the build-up to this fight, Zurdo admitted he would love to face the Ukrainian at either weight, and now De La Hoya has suggested such a bout could cement his legacy.
"I'm excited not because of him unifying, but because of the fact Zurdo is talking about Usyk, and Usyk coming back down to cruiserweight," he told DAZN's The Roundtable.
"That's pretty exciting. He doesn't like to show off what he's accomplished. But when all is said and done, I think we're going to call him one of the all-time greats.
"If he unifies this title, then imagine him fighting Usyk. If something miraculous happens and he beats him, then you have a legendary fighter."
Usyk faces Fury in a rematch this December, also in Saudi Arabia, though it is likely any subsequent fight would be a trilogy bout with the Briton or a clash with Daniel Dubois.
