Yordenis Ugas fought Terence Crawford in the amateurs and more recently suffered a 10th-round TKO loss to Errol Spence in April 2022.
So how does the Cuban fighter and former WBA (Super) welterweight world champion see the Spence-Crawford undisputed tilt going July 29?
“Fifty-fifty,” Ugas started telling ESNews recently. “Spence is strong, solid, he throws many punches. But Crawford, he’s a smart guy. This fight … 50-50."
Ugas walked into his title unification fight with Spence as the WBA (Super) welterweight champ last April at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, home of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.
Spence dominated the bout by battering Ugas toward the fight being stopped on the advice of a ringside physician due to the Cuban's right eye being swollen shut. That victory gave Spence his third world title at 147 pounds with only Crawford's WBO strap keeping him from enjoying undisputed glory.
