After 15 months out of the ring, IBF world middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin's returned to winning ways after stopping WBA champion Ryota Murata in round nine.
Golovkin looked slow in the early rounds, a clear sign of ring rust, but as the fight progressed, the Kazakh got into a rhythm and began to inflict significant damage on his opponent.
GGG slowly broke down Murata who failed to respond with any serious punches of own from round six onwards and a Golovkin right hand at the start of round nine spelled the beginning of the end for the Japanese fighter.
This was followed by a backhand which floored Murata and resulted in his corner throwing in the towel.
Now he has unified the IBF and WBA world middleweight titles, Golovkin is expected to face Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in a much-anticipated trilogy fight later this year as long as Canelo gets past Dmitry Bivol on May 7.
