'I wouldn't be surprised' - Eddie Hearn explains why Canelo Alvarez would be interested in Jake Paul fightEsther Lin/Premier Boxing Champions

Ever since Jake Paul's boxing career has gathered momentum, unified super middleweight champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has been a name frequently subjected to call outs from 'The Problem Child'.

This continued last week after Paul cruised to a unanimous decision win over Mike Tyson in one of the biggest boxing events of 2024

One common criticism made of Paul following his wins over recent years is the lack of genuine fighters on his resume, but could that be about to change with a possible bout against the pound-for-pound star?

Promoter Eddie Hearn certainly believes a fight between Paul and Alvarez could happen and gave his reasoning during an appearance on Tuesday's Ariel and Ade show

"I wouldn’t be surprised if Canelo took that fight because Canelo’s just about the money," Hearn said.

"It’s such an easy night for him, but I think Jake’s matchmaking is really smart, other than the Tommy Fury fight which they lost, they have never been in a fight where there was any danger at all really, other than the first 20 seconds against Mike Tyson.

"They obviously know, unless they are deluded beyond any imagination, that it all ends with Canelo Alvarez.

"Will they take that challenge? Maybe if the money is astronomical."

Usyk vs Fury 2

Alvarez last fought in September when he defended his WBA, WBC and WBO super middleweight titles with ease against Edgar Berlanga in Las Vegas

While the Mexican's next move has not been announced, it's expected that he will fight next on Cinco de Mayo weekend in 2025.
