They don not step into the ring together until next month, but Daniel Dubois and Joseph Parker have already lobbed some bombs at each other.
Dubois will defend the IBF heavyweight title against Parker in the co-main event at Riyadh Season's The Last Crescendo, live on DAZN Pay-Per-View on February 22, with the winner likely first in line for a showdown with WBA (Super), WBC, WBO and IBO heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk.
The countdown to the February blockbuster card officially kicked off Monday with a pre-fight press conference, at which both Dubois and Parker were in attendance.
And while there are usually some verbal barbs traded between combatants, Monday's media event indicated a simmering rivalry between the two normally soft-spoken fighters as Dubois stated his ultimate goal of taking on Usyk in a future bout.
"It's all about making noise," Dubois said. "This is show business. That's who I want next.
"First, I've got to get through this guy [Parker]. I'm going to do a demolition job against him and then I want Usyk next. I'm on a roll, so bring him on."
Parker warned his younger counterpart about the dangers of looking past an opponent, stating: "You might be looking too far ahead. You've got big fights. You've got one in front of you right now."
However, Dubois stressed that he had his sights "firmly" on Parker and that the New Zealander will not pose much of a threat to him.
"I'm just on a roll," Dubois said. "I'll be too much for him. Too strong, too fast. Everything he does, I'm going to do better.
"I'm confident. I ain't got to say too much, I don't do too much talking. Let the fans tune in, it's going to be a great fight."
Parker fired back, telling Dubois that while he's been boxing "for a while" he feels that he's "only just begun now."
"Good," Dubois responded. "If you've just started, I'll teach you a few things in there. Some lessons, some new skills.
"He's always been like that, with the nice guy act, but I know once the bell goes, we're going to try and take each other's heads off."
Heeding Dubois' warning, Parker issued one of his own towards the Briton.
"I like that he's full of confidence," Parker said. "He's sky-high at the moment. But it's all going to stop on February 22."
