After losing to Joseph Parker by unanimous decision on Saturday, Deontay Wilder was asked if he still wants to be in the fight game.
At 38-years-old and having just suffered a third loss in his last four fights, Wilder answered DAZN's Chris Mannix's inquiry about wanting to move forward with his career.
"We’ll see what happens. We have a little bit more left. I’ve done a great job with managing my money and investing. I’m a happy fighter," Wilder began telling Mannix.
"On to the next. I’m a warrior so I’ll be back soon. And if not, then it’s been an enjoyment. It’s been a pleasure and I appreciate everyone for the love and support they’ve been giving me over the years."
All this week a heavy emphasis on the "Day of Reckoning" card buildup was the collision course between Wilder and Anthony Joshua. That is until Parker decided to seemingly tear up that script with sharp boxing to comfortably edge "The Bronze Bomber" on the scorecards.
When asked if premature talks about a Joshua-Wilder clash served as a distraction, Wilder offered: "Just a little bit. It’s a lot of talk about different things, but we make no excuses tonight."
