Isaac Cruz’s manager predicted that Ryan Garcia would beat Devin Haney when the pair meet.
The super lightweight duo fight for Haney’s WBC 140lb belt, live on DAZN PPV, and both would be well set to unify the division, or call for a high profile fight.
Garcia fought Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis last year and suffered his first defeat, while Haney moved up from lightweight to snatch the WBC strap from Regis Prograis.
Cruz, meanwhile, will fight Rolly Romero - two more fighters who have both fought and lost to Davis - on March 30 to contest Romero’s WBA belt at super lightweight (live on Amazon in the US).
In the past, Garcia has suggested he would like to avenge his defeat to Davis, and both Romero and Cruz would doubtless be keen to run it back against one of the biggest names in the division.
Speaking to BoxingScene.com, Cruz’s manager Sean Gibbons believes the bigger rematch would be ‘Tank’ vs. Cruz, because he doubts Garcia will defeat Haney.
He said: “Dollars make sense to Gervonta, and ‘Pitbull’ will be a better choice than Ryan Garcia again … I doubt [Garcia] even beats Haney.”
