Israil Madrimov names key attribute if he is to beat Terence Crawford in world title fight

Israil Madrimov names key attribute if he is to beat Terence Crawford in world title fightMark Robinson/Matchroom Boxing
The Uzbekistan fighter will be making the first defence of his world title.

After winning the WBA light middleweight title back in March, it would be expected that an easy first title defence could have been on the cards for Israil Madrimov.

However, Madrimov will instead face pound-for-pound great Terence Crawford on Saturday night live on DAZN in a main event which headlines a huge card in Los Angeles.

After being a world champion in three weight divisions, Crawford is being labelled as a favourite for this contest, but Madrimov will be no walkover.

He may only be 11 fights into his professional career (10-0-1, 7 KOs), but Madrimov has impressed in all 10 of his wins, including when he won the WBA 154lb belt in March with a fifth round stoppage.

It is a mammoth task for Madrimov when it comes to taking on one of the world's best pound-for-pound fighters, but when speaking to DAZN's Off The Cuff, Madrimov believes that if he can keep calm come fight night, he has every chance of springing a huge upset at the BMO Stadium.

"You know, I’m ready," Madrimov said.

"It’s been a great training camp with no stone left unturned. We did everything we could.

"I know there only is a human being, and all they need is just that, stay stable psychologically.

"I know that physically I’m prepared. I know I can beat him and I just have to be myself and stay calm."
