The shoe will be on the other foot for Wade Plemons this weekend, as the commentator trades in the microphone for boxing gloves.
Plemons will take on the Masai Warrior at MF & DAZN: X Series 20 on Saturday in Manchester, available live worldwide on DAZN. It's the co-main event on the card that also features Darren Till vs. Anthony Taylor, and there is reason to believe that it could even steal the show.
If nothing else, seeing a commentator step into the boxing ring could provide some catharsis for Misfits founder KSI, who had a public falling out with Plemons years ago.
"I'm very excited to see Wade actually, you know, be in the ring, because we've seen him talk for so many years online, constantly critiquing every single YouTube boxer in this scene," KSI said at the pre-fight press conference in Thursday.
"So it's good to finally be able to critique him as well, and see how good he is in the ring."
For Plemons' part, Saturday's bout allows him to back up his onscreen knowledge with in-ring technique. His opponent dismissed him as just "an obstacle," to which Plemons disagreed.
"I mean, he's completely wrong, but he'll find that out," he said. "Saturday, you'll find it out.
"A lot of people don't really know much about me outside of the commentary and a lot of people are gonna find out. Everybody thinks I'm the nice guy, and for the most part I am, but I've definitely [worked] to change that up."
