Jack Catterall thinks that Josh Taylor is struggling to find another fight as the pair prepare to face one another in a rematch.

No date or venue has been confirmed, but it appears that the unified light welterweight champion is willing to entertain a second fight with the Englishman in order to settle a dispute that started back in February.

When the pair fought the first time in Scotland, many observers believed Catterall had done enough to become the undisputed champion, only for the incumbent to carry the victory by split decision.

Judge Ian John-Lewis was downgraded by the British Board of Control as part of the fallout, and both fighters were outspoken in their belief that they were the true winners of the fight.

Initially, Taylor had planned to move up to 147lbs in pursuit of bigger fights, and suggested he had struggled to make the 140lbs cutoff point for the fight, but he now appears willing to put his remaining two straps on the line in order to prove his superiority.

Given Terence Crawford and Errol Spence Jr. are set to fight one another, Taylor might have changed his mind on a rematch given there is no obvious fight at welterweight to occupy him.

Catterall thinks Taylor has little choice.

“I believe he’s under a lot of pressure, from the public as well, for this fight to happen,” he told talkSPORT.

“Let’s make no mistake, he’s lost a lot of support since the fight. I think the way he’s carried himself and his words and his actions post-fight.

“I don’t think there’s any fight for him there at welterweight at the minute, and there’s certainly no one else at 140.

“We drew a line under it. We couldn’t change the decision. I think they demoted a referee. There was a couple of letters back-and-forth, but it is what it is,” Catterall added.

“I said it at the time, they stole the moment in time from me. Fighting for the undisputed, that moment has gone now, and it won’t come back around.

“So, now it’s about rebuilding and getting those world titles. Hopefully, I can go out there and pick two in the next fight.”
