Jake Paul's motives for fighting Tyron Woodley have been questioned by UFC legend Chael Sonnen.
The YouTube star is 3-0 as a professional boxer, but is yet to face someone as accomplished in combat sports as the former UFC welterweight champion.
In a recent video posted on his YouTube channel, Sonnen discussed whether Paul will be looking to move up the boxing ranks if he beats Woodley on August 28.
If this is the case, Sonnen believes Paul needs to state his intentions as soon as possible.
"I'd like to hear from Paul, I think all of you owe him a little bit of a courtesy, a little bit of his due respect." said Sonnen.
"He is claiming that he is good enough to beat these guys, but he is now signing contracts to get in there with them."
"Now it comes down to if he's going to step in there with a world champion and he plans to beat him, then that must mean he plans to be a world champion."
"And if that is the case then I think he needs to start saying it, he needs to come out and start talking about contendership, talking about rankings, where does he go from here."
Following his win over former MMA fighter Ben Askren in April, Paul has gone onto sign a deal with Showtime Boxing in America and now faces a legititmate striking threat in Woodley.
He won the UFC welterweight title after knocking out Robbie Lawlor in 2016, making four defences before losing to Kamaru Usman in early 2019.
The pair are set to go face-to-face in Miami later this week, which will be their first meeting since Woodley was in Askren's corner during his April 17 fight with Paul.
