Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson fight rules: Rounds, length, weight and gloves explainedDAZN

Jake Paul and Mike Tyson finally go toe-to-toe this Friday (November15).

It has been one of the most talked about fights of 2024, courting both excitement and controversary.

Already postponed once due to Iron Mike suffering an ulcer flare-up, the YouTuber and boxing legend will now meet at the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

The fight is live on Netflix, with the main fight card starting at 8 p.m. ET, 5 p.m. CT on Friday in the US, and 12 a.m. Saturday UK time.

It will be 58-year-old Tyson's first professional fight in 19 years, while Paul, 10-1, has already fought twice this year, winning both.

While this is a professional bout, there will be some different rules in place to a normal heavyweight fight.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson: How many rounds and length

Paul and Tyson's contest will be over eight rounds, should it need to go that long.

If it does go the distance then the fight outcome will be decided by the judges' scorecards.

Normally rounds in men's boxing are three minutes in length, however this fight will have two-minute rounds instead.

Paul vs. Tyson weight class

Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson will be at heavyweight class, the division Tyson fought at during his professional career, where he won six championship titles.

Being fought at heavyweight means this fight has no maximum weight restrictions, so Tyson and Paul do not have to worry about making weight ahead of Thursday's weigh-in.

The minimum weight is 200 pounds (91 kg), which means this will be the first time Paul has fought at this weight. The YouTuber-turned-boxer has historically stepped into the ring between 185lbs and 200lbs.

Paul is aiming to weigh-in at around 220lbs for this one, but Tyson is still expected to come into the fight heavier.

At his peak Tyson typically fought at around 218lbs and the heaviest fighter he ever faced was Kevin McBride, at 271 pounds. That turned out to be Iron Mike's final professional fight, which he lost.

Paul vs. Tyson: Gloves and equipment

Both Paul and Tyson will wear 14-ounce gloves, which are heavier than standard gloves.

Typically, heavyweight boxers wear 10oz gloves.

No additional equipment will be in use, with no headguards being used by either.

Paul vs. Tyson: Who is sanctioning the fight?

This fight will be sanctioned by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations and it is taking place in the same American state.
