Shakur Stevenson has won many plaudits in boxing due to his superb credentials that include an Olympic silver medal and world titles in two weight classes.
The Newark native is currently campaigning at 135lbs, one of boxing's best divisions, and Shane Mosley, a former lightweight world champion himself, has heaped praise on the unbeaten fighter.
Now a part of Jake Paul’s training team, Mosley is still a keen follower of the sport that he enjoyed multiple successes in and the division he once dominated has grabbed his attention.
With numerous top-level fighters such as Stevenson, Devin Haney and Vasiliy Lomachenko operating there, Mosley has singled out Stevenson for some high praise.
“Shakur, he definitely does everything really, really good, gives me Pernell Whitaker vibes, very crafty, movement, speed, the power,” said Mosley when speaking to FightHype.
“I heard it was ‘Sugar’ Shakur Stevenson, but, yeah, he’s fantastic. He’s smart, his ring IQ, all this stuff is tremendous, speed, the power is picking up too.”
