Javier Fortuna aiming for Ryan Garcia stoppage to prevent scorecards misery

Javier Fortuna aiming for Ryan Garcia stoppage to prevent scorecards miseryDAZN

Javier Fortuna has no faith in the judges ahead of his blockbuster fight against Ryan Garcia, exclusively live on DAZN this Saturday night.

The experienced Dominican is the latest fighter to test himself against Garcia, and Fortuna fully believes that he requires a knockout if he’s to end the unbeaten run of one of boxing’s most popular fighters.

The heavy-handed Californian has raced to the business end of the talent laden 135lbs division with wins over the likes of Luke Campbell and Emmanuel Tagoe, and Fortuna represents another stern test.

Aware of his B-side role this weekend, Fortuna is aiming for a stoppage and has no intention of letting the fight go to the final bell.

“Obviously, there’s been a couple of times in my career where that’s happened,” said Fortuna when speaking to BoxingScene .

“I left it up to the judges and it wasn’t a good thing. Now, you know, it’s either he kills me or I kill him.

“I have to knock him out. I can’t let it go to the scorecards. Even if I drop him several times, I won’t win the fight on the scorecards anyway.”
