Jean Pascal should face length ban for doping failure, claims Chris AlgieriDAZN
The 38-year-old fighter missed a rematch with Badou Jack.

Jean Pascal should be banned for failing a drugs test, according to former junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri.

Pascal was due to take on Badou Jack in a rematch but tested positive for a PED, and such is the nature of some of those drugs, Algieri believes that the 38-year-old should not be allowed back into the ring.

“He shouldn’t be allowed to fight anymore,” he told the DAZN Boxing Show.

“A lot of those substances have lasting effects, positive effects. So when you do drugs, those anabolic chemicals or substances, create muscles, create tendon strength, all these different things don’t necessarily go away.

“When you use these drugs the benefits last throughout. You have hormones you are not supposed to have. At this point you have these guys doing designer drugs and have these benefits, what are we going to do, ban them for a couple of months? They still have benefits from that.”

Algieri believes that he has faced fighters during his boxing days and his kickboxing career who have also been on illicit substances.

“I know I have,” he claimed.

“From back in my kickboxing days to in my pro days, I felt the difference in their body. Guys literally feel like this [touches wall] when they're on stuff. I’m not throwing anybody out there because it’s speculation. I don’t have proof.”
