Jermell Charlo will use the delay for his Brian Castano fight to train harder.
Charlo had been planning for a March 19th fight but WBO junior middleweight champion Castano suffered a small tear to his biceps. That meant that an undisputed rematch had to be put back by at least another four weeks.
The three-belt champion initially doubted his rival’s claims, but speaking on Instagram he wrote that he would be using the time to improve further.
“Castano pulled out of the fight to buy more time for a bigger a— beat’n,” Charlo said.
“It’s not on me, it’s in me. The air we breathe is not the same. True essence of what Lions Only really means.
“I won’t let this type of adversity slow my grind. I peep all they moves, two steps ahead. Tell Castano show those doctor reports and take them VADA [tests] so we can move forward with knocking his a— out.”
The pair fought last year to a draw and a rematch has been on the cards ever since, and Castano seems keen to honour the second fight.
“I’m in straight war mode. I don’t give a f— what type of tricks they tryna play,” vowed Charlo.
“Nothing else matters. I’m prepared to endure pain and find solutions at any moment.
“One more belt to grab and I’ve completed a dream than an eight-year-old once had. Never changed my mindset only to get stronger.”
