Tim Tszyu was originally slated to clash with Jermell Charlo until the latter fractured his left hand.
The injury created the opening for Tszyu to face Tony Harrison instead with the WBO Interim junior middleweight championship at stake Sunday in Australia.
That being said, appearing on Showtime, Charlo, the undisputed 154-pound king, wanted to provide fans with an update on that left hand in addition to a possible timetable for his return.
"The left hand is doing great. It's healing up," Charlo said prior to the Tszyu-Harrison main event.
"I'm doing everything I can in the gym to strengthen it. It's going to be stronger than it's ever been so they'll see me by the end of the summer."
Charlo's thoughts about Tszyu-Harrison?
"I'm expecting Tim to come in and put a lot of pressure on Tony," Charlo said.
"I see him just taking the fight. Let's see if he could get Tony out of there like he said he can. But on the other hand, I faced Tony, already. Tony's got a stiff jab, he moves around a lot. Now we're going to see if Tony could last throughout the end of the rounds because you know they say he gets a little tired by the end of the round.
"Whoever wins," he added, "I'll be looking forward to seeing a great matchup."
