'Maybe two more fights!' - Jesse Rodriguez outlines bantamweight plans after super-flyweight reign

'Maybe two more fights!' - Jesse Rodriguez outlines bantamweight plans after super-flyweight reignMatchroom Boxing
Victory at his current weight level once more has the American looking to take the leap up another division.

Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez admits he cannot stay at super-flyweight forever, suggesting he has "maybe two more fights" in the division before he moves to bantamweight.

The American extended his professional record to 21-0 with 14 KOs after he delivered a ruthless performance to stop Pedro Guevara in the third round on Saturday.

Victory at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia is the latest success for Rodriguez, whose defence of his WBC super-flyweight title will have seen his stock further rise.

But speaking afterwards, the star admitted that his time at his current weight is likely limited, indicating that he could well make the step up before the end of 2025.

"I have maybe two more fights here at this weight class," he told The Stomping Ground. "Then [I] move on up. Any unification fight at 115lbs [would be great].

"[But then I'll] just get some fights at 118lbs. I can't stay at 115 forver. If the fights don't happen, I'll have no choice but to move up [another division]."

Rodriguez's lastest success in Pennsylvania could pave the way for a return to California for a home state bout, or possibly onto a major Riyadh Season card with Matchroom.

Both would be appealing to the fighter too, adding that he will wait and see what promoter Eddie Hearn has in store for him following the start of the new year.

"I would love to fight in my hometown of San Antonio," he added. "Riyadh Season as well. Whatever Eddie has planned [for me], let's do it."
