Joe Cordina is not yet ready to decide on his next fight after becoming IBF super featherweight champion.
Cordina delivered a brutal second-round knockout that brought an early victory in front of his home crowd in Cardiff.
Such was the decisive manner of defeat that Shakur Stevenson was immediately mentioned as a potential next opponent and the two fighters appeared to be interested when they spoke on social media, but speaking to the DAZN Boxing Show, Cordina appeared less interested in focusing on the sport.
“I want to be a millionaire now. I’ve ticked my goal to become champion, I want to secure my family,” he explained.
“I just need to enjoy this moment, I don’t even want to speak about who I’m fighting next, maybe next week. I don’t want to look at a boxing gym or a pair of gloves.
“I did everything I was meant to be doing... I sacrificed my time with my family, now I spend time with them. After next week... I can’t start thinking about next week.
“I know there will be fights out there for me, but now it has to be the right fights for me. I've been paid well but not so I can sit back and relax. Now I’m world champion I get to call the shots a little bit.”
