Ryan Garcia's coach Joe Goossen believes his fighter has all the attributes to overcome Gervonta Davis on Saturday live on DAZN.
Garcia linked up with Goossen for his win over Emmanuel Tagoe in April 2022, and since then has produced an impressive sixth round knockout win over Javier Fortuna this past July.
Now the Goossen-Garcia partnership is set for its toughest test when the 24-year-old takes on the hard-hitting Davis in Las Vegas.
But when speaking to The PBC Podcast, Goossen believes Garcia's attributes give him the edge and claims that his power is something that he has never experienced during his training career.
“I think he’s got the reach,” Goossen said.
“I think he’s got the height and the speed. But more importantly, he’s got power like nobody I’ve ever seen. And I can tell you, I’ve trained a lotta great punchers. He is incredible. He is so heavy-handed, and it comes so fast that you don’t – look, nobody wants to get hit with anybody’s best punch, especially if they’re knockout punchers.
"But I’m gonna tell you, I like the physical advantage of the height and reach we’ve got. OK?”
Goossen then went onto reflect on the training camp for the upcoming fight with Davis and revealed that Garcia has been making easy work of his sparring partners.
“I think Ryan’s got a little edge there, but again, power like I’ve never – what he does to sparring partners is just something I’ve never seen, really. And I’ve had some great fighters.
"I mean, I’ve had sparring partners that dominate sparring sessions round after round. But Ryan doesn’t only dominate, he punishes I mean really good fighters. And they come out of the ring going, ‘Man, I never knew that you hit this hard.’ ”
