Joe Joyce is backing Anthony Joshua to beat Oleksandr UsykDAZN
Joe Joyce faces Carlos Takam later this month but he's also got one eye on the heavyweight title picture.

Joe Joyce was in good spirits as he visited Wembley Stadium just days after England’s heartbreaking Euro 2020 loss to Italy. The 2016 Olympic silver medallist faces Carlos Takam at the nearby SSE Arena on July 24th, and he was in a confident mood as he spoke on a range of subjects.

Joyce, who possesses a lofty WBO ranking, is near the front of the queue to challenge Anthony Joshua, but the latter’s priority is Oleksandr Usyk, who he’s set to face on September 25th. Joyce will be an ardent observer and he’s backing his countryman to get the job done.

"I will happily take on whoever wins, but I would love the opportunity to fight Joshua.” said Joyce.

“I think he will want to fight [Tyson] Fury so we will have to see what happens there, but I am on the WBO track and looking to be made mandatory.

"I think Usyk could be a tricky fight for Joshua, but he should knock him out sooner or later you would think. It is heavyweight boxing, so you never know, but Usyk is no joke.

“He is an Olympic gold medallist, a very skilled southpaw, so he will probably pose Joshua problems with his good footwork and ringcraft. I do think Joshua will get to him, sooner or later."
