Joe Joyce has revealed a major change he is making in his preparations for the rematch with Zhilei Zhang later this month.
Joyce, who is known for his hard-hitting style, got a taste of his own medicine when he faced Zhang back in April with the Chinese fighter's left hand causing significant damage to Joyce's right eye which resulted in the ringside doctor intervening to stop the fight in the sixth.
Now Joyce is hoping he can get his dreams of a world title shot back on track and is hoping a heavier physique can be the difference when he faces Zhang at the OVO Arena Wembley.
"Yeah, definitely [coming in] heavier. I kind of always try and watch my weight, to try and keep myself a little bit lighter, but I didn’t expect to go that light [in my first fight with Zhang]," Joyce said when speaking to Boxing Social courtesy of Freebets Bookmakers.
"It was hard to keep the weight on. It was something in my diet that wasn’t agreeing with me, I’ll cut that out and the weight won’t be an issue.
“I will be coming in heavier and harder.”
