Joet Gonzalez on Emanuel Navarrete: You have to prepare for the unexpected

Joet Gonzalez on Emanuel Navarrete: You have to prepare for the unexpectedDAZN
Joet Gonzalez believes he will need to be at his best if he has any chance of beating Emanuel Navarrete.

Joet Gonzalez is fully aware of the challenges he faces when he takes on WBO featherweight title Emanuel Navarrete in San Diego Friday night.

This is Gonzalez's second world title challenge after losing to Shakur Stevenson two years ago.

Speaking to BoxingScene, Gonzalez singled out Navarrete's unique fighting style and believes preparation is key if he is to overcome the Mexican.

"Navarrete is definitely unique and fights his own way. He throws punches from all angles," Gonzalez said.

"To prepare for him, you have to expect the unexpected. You just have to be ready from round one through round twelve."

While Gonzalez has plenty of praise for Navarrete, he is relishing the challenge of beating the Mexican at the peak of his powers.

"He was a big 122 and I think he’s still big for 126. But at this weight, he looks even stronger. He’s more solid, he’s not struggling to make the weight like he was at 122."

"I think for this fight we’re going to see the best Navarrete that the public has ever seen. That’s what I want, I want to beat him at his best."
