John Fury: Deontay Wilder 'is not a man' for his reaction to Tyson Fury lossDAZN
The WBC champion's father has been unimpressed by Wilder's determination to blame others.

Tyson Fury’s father, John Fury, has claimed that Deontay Wilder is ‘not a man’ given his reaction to defeat to his son last year.

Wilder lost his WBC belt to Fury in February 2020 in a convincing victory for Fury, and the Bronze Bomber has pursued a trilogy rematch for a year and a half. In that period he has taken his case to mediation, and made a string of accusations to excuse his defeat.

The 34-year-old American heavyweight blamed his former trainer Mark Breland, his chainmail costume pre-fight, tampered gloves in Fury’s favour, and spiked water.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Fury Sr. contrasted his reaction with Anthony Joshua’s after last weekend’s defeat to Oleksandr Usyk.

“Bizarre is an understatement,” Fury said. “He proved what a bad sport he is and he let the American people down with that behaviour.

“I’ve always looked up to the Americans – especially the boxing fraternity – and I’ve never seen behaviour like that from a champion.

“I’ve had great respect for their champions, past and present, but he behaved like a spoilt kid who couldn’t believe his misfortune and couldn’t accept the situation he was in.

“It put me off him as a man – he’s not a man. In the last interview they tried to compare him to AJ. No way. Look at how AJ is reacting now and compare it to him.”
