The Floyd Mayweather Jr.-John Gotti III exhibition fight ending in a no contest last year left a lingering element of unfinished business that doesn't sit well with the latter.
As the two men prepare to engage in a rematch Saturday, live on DAZN, Gotti III is looking to settle his rivalry with the boxing legend.
"I know this is going to be a very tough fight," Gotti III began telling DAZN during a recent interview. "I know there's a lot of bad blood and I know man-to-man, Floyd wants to settle this as do I. Forget all the boxing and all that other stuff.
"It's between me and him," he added. "It's personal."
That said, Gotti III specified that he doesn't hate Mayweather.
"In the ring, it's personal," he offered. "Outside the ring, I wish him a 100 years of health and happiness. But how would I feel to knock him out? I'd feel great."
From their first bout, Gotti III noted how Mayweather entered ready to fight and believes the boxing legend would be remiss to abandon his sweet science brilliance early in the rematch.
"He's just an opponent now, he's just a face," Gotti III said. "If he comes in the way he came in the first fight, he's going to get caught. He was very lax and lazy. If he comes in, there was a lot of mistakes he made as well, he's going to get caught."
Added his father John Gotti Jr.: "We hope John ends it quickly and I believe he has the ability to do that.
"No question about it."
