'A set of cojones!' - Johnny Fisher reveals only insight from sparring sessions with Dave Allen

'A set of cojones!' - Johnny Fisher reveals only insight from sparring sessions with Dave AllenMark Robinson / Matchroom Boxing
The Romford Bull may have dispatched his foes with ruthless power so far, but he says he does not have the inside track on his latest opponent.

Johnny Fisher does not feel that he has learned anything other than having "a set of cojones" from sparring Dave Allen ahead of their fight in December, live on DAZN.

The British heavyweight will meet his old practice partner in Saudi Arabia midway down the bill on Riyadh Season's Reignited, under Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury's rematch.

Fisher, who first made his name among boxing circles as a sparring option for several major British heavyweights, is looking to extend an unbeaten professional record.

But as he prepares to reunite with Allen, the Romford Bull says he does not have the inside track on his rival due to the nature of their session, though it has fed his confidence.

"Sparring is sparring," Fisher said. "It's completely different when it’s under the lights with ten-ounce gloves on. There’s pressure, there’s people watching.

"When you spar, there’s people working on things. I’ve sparred with a lot of big names – I’ve sparred [Daniel] Dubois, I’ve sparred [Tyson] Fury, I’ve sparred [Fabio] Wardley, I’ve sparred [Derek] Chisora.

"What I do know that I can take away from that spar [with Allen] is that I’ve got a set of cojones on me because I was getting pasted for the first six rounds."

Fisher has seldom needed to go more than six rounds since turning pro, making a reputation in recent fights for a ruthless ability to dispatch opponents early on.

He has won all but one of his dozen fights by knockout, and three of his last four wins have come in the first round alone, burnishing a glowing reptuation.
