    Johnny Fisher credited his "British stiff upper lip" for helping him defeat Dave Allen after he scored a controversial split-decision victory in Riyadh last weekend.

    The Romford Bull took a points victory over his former sparring partner at the Kingdom Arena in Saudi Arabia, before Oleksandr Usyk's rematch win over Tyson Fury.

    Fisher, who has built a reputation in his budding career for quick knockouts, was taken the distance by the experienced Allen, who dropped him to the canvas in round five.

    On how he was able to continue throughout, the star credited his own resolve and the team around him for helping him to focus and hone in on a path to victory.

    "The British stiff upper lip, that’s what I possess," he told The Stomping Ground. "In round five, it was a dark place. You tick one round off at a time.

    "If you didn’t train for those dark moments, then I wouldn’t be able to get through. As much as it’s down to me, it’s down to the people I surround myself with.

    "A lot of other men probably would have folded in that situation, getting dropped. People say it just looked like I was trying to survive at points, and maybe I was.

    "I won the first four rounds and won the last one. I’m not trying to prove anything. It wasn’t a resounding beatdown on me. In the second half, Dave took control.

    "I went to bed and woke up every day expecting the best Dave Allen. If I didn’t expect that, I probably wouldn't have been able to see it through. I never believed the hype."
