A chance at becoming a two-time world heavyweight champion could some sooner rather than later for New Zealand's Joseph Parker.
Following Luis Ortiz's knockout win against Charles Martin on New Year's Day, Filip Hrgovic called out the Cuban for a fight to decide who will be the mandatory challenger for the IBF world heavyweight title which is currently held by Oleksandr Usyk.
However, after beating Derek Chisora for a second time at the end of 2021, Parker has emerged as the most likely opponent for the Croatian.
Hrgovic boasts a perfect 14-0 record and his promoter Kalle Sauerland is ready to begin negotiations once the fight is ordered by the IBF.
Unified world heavyweight champion Usyk is set to meet Anthony Joshua in a rematch in the coming months, and if the winner is unable to land a fight with WBC champion Tyson Fury for the undisputed title, it's likely they will face either Parker or Hrgovic.
