The scorecards have split opinion.

The dust has settled on Jack Catterall's win over Josh Taylor in their rematch, but the final scorecards are again a topic of discussion in the fallout.

Following 12 brutal rounds at the First Direct Arena in Leeds on Saturday night, Catterall was declared the winner by unanimous decision with two judges scoring the fight 117-111 and the other scoring the bout 116-113.

In particular the two 117-111 cards raised eyebrows as it implied that Catterall was a clear winner, and Taylor's coach Joe McNally was not afraid to show his disapproval towards the judges scoring the contest at ringside.

“I thought it was a f—g joke. As soon as they said 117-111, the first thing I thought was: three English judges," McNally told iFL TV

"My initial worry at the press conference (before the fight) was this panel of three English judges. They were massively underprepared for this fight and occasion. It needed experienced operators. It’s a disgrace.”

For Taylor, this loss to Catterall was his second successive defeat after losing his WBO super lightweight title to Teofimo Lopez last year.
