The undisputed champion conceded it had become harder to make weight at super lightweight.

Josh Taylor believes that his controversial victory over Jack Catterall will be his last at 140lbs.

The undisputed super lightweight champion was pushed all the way against his mandatory challenger, and many believed that the Englishman had done enough to be awarded the win.

The Scot has often suggested that he would move up to 147lbs in pursuit of higher profile fights, and now it seems that this narrowly avoided upset has convinced him to go up in weight.

Speaking after the fight, he admitted: “I made the weight good, but it is getting harder. That is most likely my last fight at 140. We left it a little bit late with taking the weight off and it showed a little bit in my performance.”

Any move would leave Catterall in the wind for a rematch, something that Taylor did not entertain, but would leave him well positioned for a shot at any and all vacant belts.

“I don’t think there is any need for a rematch. I won the fight in the second half, I won it by a couple of rounds. The referee taking a point off me hurt me but I still won the fight,” Taylor said.

“He put up a good fight for sure, but he never won the fight and he knows he never won the fight. We got the win, we move forward.”
