Josh Taylor reveals current position on potential rematch with Jack Catterall

Josh Taylor is desperate to prove a point against Jack Catterall despite edging his British rival earlier this year.

Speculation about a rematch has been non-stop since the first fight ended due to the controversial scoring, and although talks are ongoing between the two camps, Taylor is still unsure on when the fight will take place.

After becoming undisputed champion at 140lbs in 2021 with a win over Jose Ramirez, Taylor’s name was linked to numerous fighters including Teofimo Lopez and Terence Crawford.

Instead, Taylor defended his four world titles against Catterall and was fortunate to escape with his belts. It’s a performance that he wants to put right.

“Well, we don’t know yet, it’s obviously just with the lawyers and stuff,” said Taylor when speaking with Talksport.

“Obviously, I would like to get it on sooner rather than later, get it done, put it all to bed and move forward in my career.

“I want to be able to be as active as possible, especially in the next coming two and three years I want to be out and getting three fights a year at least. There are lawyers and contracts and this and that. It takes its time, so there’s nothing that I can do.

“I’m doing all I can do what I control which is being in the gym, being fit, being active. That’s it. Everything else is being left with the promoters and lawyers and all that which is out of my control.”
