Josh Taylor expects a different outcome if Teofimo Lopez and Vasiliy Lomachenko square off for a second time.

Teofimo Lopez is scared to face Vasiliy Lomachenko in a rematch. That’s the brutal verdict from Josh Taylor, the undisputed super-lightweight champion, who has been linked to a number of fights with the world’s leading fighters at 135lbs.

Lopez, who defends his world titles against George Kambosos on November 27th, a fight live and exclusive on DAZN, defeated Lomachenko over a year ago in one of the biggest upsets of 2020.

The outspoken New Yorker has not fought since and Taylor believes that Lopez holds no interest in running it back with the brilliant Ukranian.

“I think he’s scared of the rematch with Loma because he knows he fought an injured Lomachenko,” said Taylor when speaking to FightHype. “I think Lomachenko firing on all cylinders beats him. It’s a good fight. Lopez done awesome in the last fight.

“He performed well and got the tactics right. He got the game plan perfect on the night, and he done it well. I just think Lomachenko was a little bit injured, and he also started a little bit too late. Once he got started, Lopez was on the back foot and really struggling. I think in the rematch, Loma goes earlier and wins that fight.”
